The six office buildings of the Heritage City Government Center have been
located in general conformance with the approved master plan, following the
profile of the elliptical ring road. In particular their placement respects
the views into the park from the radially‐arranged roads that lead to the
ring road.
Parliament House is linked physically to the adjacent office buildings by
pedestrian bridges and, architecturally, by a shared color palette. The same
granite base is used throughout, as is the white color scheme for the office
walls above. A distinctive feature that ties all the buildings in the
Government Center together is the monumental pergolas above the roofs. Not
only do they shield the roof terraces from the sun, their full complement of
photo-voltaic panels provide significant power for the buildings’ mechanical
plants, making a significant contribution to the Center’s sustainability.
